Animation for Web Comics (The Basics) Part I
Okay, some explaining is probably in order for the title.
This part and the upcoming second part are quick animation tutorials
specifically geared towards web comic artists who wanna add animations to their
comics for more dynamic storytelling. These overviews will also give a rudimentary
knowledge of frame-by-frame animation and the most basic tweening using
Photoshop. I'm gonna go ahead and assume a familiarity with Photoshop and for
this post I will be using CS5. None of that will really matter in this post
cause we don't get to that until Part Deux.

Happy New Year!
Hello all, it's been crazy busy but we made it to 2012! Quite a few developments for me; I am currently in pre-production for an animated short based on the work of painter David Gildersleeve. An estimated completion is set for late Spring / early Summer with plans to take it through the festival circuit. More on this project will be posted as production begins.
Also, a number of videos have been added to my portfolio site including a new showreel on the homepage. I am also currently acting as a consultant production manager on the upcoming animated series "Fate Saga." I found the creator, Dana Corrigan, at Anime Weekend Atlanta and was really impressed by her idea and the development she had accomplished. All in all this year is shaping up to be interesting if not busy: just the way I like it - and there is so much yet to come!

INTERNET CENSORSHIP -- READ THIS
THIS IS REAL.
aka
YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED.
If congress passes the SOPA act then any display/download of copyrighted material can lead to jail time as
well as censorship and denied access to many websites.
Please visit this site and help stand against such bastardization of free speech:
Thank you and I'll try not to make a habit of such politics.

Muppets
Ok. I have been all for a Muppet
re-boot since I first heard about the production. I grew up on reruns
of The Muppet Show and the film catalog. We even had a recorded VHS
tape of The Muppet Family Christmas Special. This franchise hits
home for me even more than nickelodeon or Disney (which subsequently
owns the aforementioned property). So, when I read this via
MovieBob's post--- I became quite worried though not altogether
surprised.
Unrest within the Muppet clan has been
an industry secret for over a decade. In fact, talking with some
people who have worked closely with the family has given me a new
insight into the politics of puppetry. Disney had been after the
Muppet property for years leading up to Henson’s death and the sale
was highly disputed within the loyal workers and muppeteers. Both
movies made after the sale, Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet
Treasure Island, were technically directed by Henson’s son but
greatly developed and created by this same loyal crew. I was a big
fan of these movies and didn't know what to think of this general
grouchy tone towards the “new blood” in the family.
I decided to give Segel the benefit of
a doubt and not jump to conclusions before seeing the film.
I saw the movie the night before
Thanksgiving and here's what I thought.
WARNING: SLIGHT SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW!!!

Turner Talk
On November 3rd at 8
o’clock, two editors and a compositor came to talk about their work on TNT as
part of Turner Studios. The event was held in SCAD-Atlanta's DMC theater and a good crowd
turned out for the event, if not for the food. The first editor was named Sean Polanski.
His experience in the editing traced back 15 years and though it was not his
first occupational choice, he became interested in the field and learned
everything he could from books. Doug Walt was the next to introduce himself. He
initially began editing in L.A. freelancing for Warner Brothers, Fox, and
Universal. Travis Fast is the compositor of the group with a background in
editing and color correction. The three began our discussion by explaining the
ins and outs of editing at Turner.
